One third of the world is under government enforced lockdown. That means social gatherings, music festivals, brunch with friends are all on hold for the foreseeable future *screams in extrovert*.
While you might be relieved to escape the daily grind for a while, staying at home presents its own challenges.
We wouldn’t be the app experts if we didn’t let you in on our favourite apps right now which are keeping us sane at home. Here are our 5 favourites.
Free for IOS and Android
We were surprised to discover that House Party has been around since 2016, but since this recent pandemic it is only now getting the attention it deserves.
First and foremost, Houseparty is based around video chat and works in a similar way to facetime. It allows your connections to join in on conversations with you and your peers. Plus it has a diverse range of games and quizzes that you can all play together.
It is a real boredom buster and we can honestly say that we have spent a few hours on this game. Let your friends and family know when you will be online, sit down with a nice glass of wine and get ready to enjoy a Houseparty like no other.
The app has faced some rumours that the platform has been compromised and the user data has subsequently been hacked, but Houseparty itself is flashing a $1million dollar bountry to see if this is grounded in reality.

If any app can help you feel grounded while you work, live, exercise and entertain yourself at home, it is Headspace. Headspace is loaded with meditation, music and mindfulness tips to help you stay present and sleep better.
This app, while free for the first 14 days, is now offering free meditations designed to ease any stress around COVID-19.

Zenly is a location sharing app that has had to suddenly pivot its entire business model to accomodate for the recent pandemic. Once an app used by teeny boppers to check what party their friends were at, Zenly has now changed their narrative and attempted to gamify the global effort for people to #StayHome. The apps ‘Stay at Home’ challenge using location data to track the users time is spent inside and outside of their house.
Although this app isn’t a must have, it sure is interesting. What we found the most insightful is being able to see what country’s citizens are spending the most time staying put in their homes.

Staying well and maintaining a routine can be difficult when you are eating, sleeping and working from home.
If you are in a situation where you feel you may be losing control over your circumstances, it is important to maintain control over what little things you can. It is positive for your own mental health to tick things off everyday and feel that sense of achievement, no matter how small. For this reason, the Done app is high on our list of recommendations.
Staying at home is a great opportunity to build healthy habits. Done allows you to track and create healthy routines, tick off goals and break bad habits.

We love Audible during the best of times and the worst of times. Being stuck at home is the perfect opportunity to catch up on all of those books that you said you were going to read, but never did.
Audible is a paid app, but it is well worth the investment and is something the Konnect Team has had on the go for many years. Being able to put your headphones in and educate yourself with some of your favourite biographies or transport yourself to another world through a fictional series is powerful.

In times like these, it is important to remember that you are not alone in how you feel. Hopefully through using a few of these apps we have recommended you can feel that your friends and family are closer than you think and you are in more control of this situation than you originally thought.
